My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smiley's name fits her perfectly - she is a happy, energetic dog who can't wait to meet you. She loves checking out new people and places, and thinks everyone wants to be her friend. If you look at her for more than 30 seconds, she'll flip over and try to persuade you to give her a belly rub. She likes to toss her toy teddy bear up in the air, catch it, shake it, and then toss it up again. Her absolute favorite game is fetch, and the best way to burn off her energy is to throw her tennis ball until she gets tuckered out. She would do best with an active family, but she is able to mellow out as needed too. She likes to snuggle up on the couch (and um, how about a belly rub while we're here?). She does beautifully in her crate - no fussing or whining - and she often naps in her crate just because it's comfy. She's housebroken, and rarely barks. She has been walking well on a leash with consistent training, though if she sees a squirrel all bets are off! She has sniffed other dogs in a friendly way while on leash and has graciously put up with some not-very-gentle petting from neighborhood kids as well. She has tons of love to give and a real zest for life - you can't help smiling when you see this happy pup. Sweet Smiley is only about 30 lbs, 2 yrs old, and ready for a new home. Being an only dog is probably a good idea, but not completely necessary with gradual introductions. If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". The adoption fee is $250.00. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This dog has been examined by our vet, spayed or neutered (if not previously done), vaccinations updated, heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. Dogs benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of dogs coming from MAS Rescue! Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Remember adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!
