My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chester is an adorable middle-aged male border collie mix. He grew up in western Wyoming, where he was probably a working ranch dog. He has since retired, and he’s greatly enjoying some rest and relaxation at his foster home in Denver.

Chester is very friendly with humans, and eager to play with other dogs as well. He has shown some fear and/or protective instincts with some dogs, especially with larger dogs. However, he responds well to human guidance, and he will follow your lead if you introduce him slowly, and help him understand appropriate boundaries.

Chester is perfectly house-trained, and at home he is a calm, low maintenance companion. He hasn’t learned too many of the usual commands, but he learned how to sit in one day – he is very trainable. He will overeat if you let him, and he’s still a bit overweight from his Wyoming days, so it’s best to watch food portions and take him on regular walks. He loves to run, and you’ll see his herding instinct kick-in on occasion. He is not yet fit enough for long runs.

Chester is a keen observer, he loves to sniff everything, listen, and observe the neighborhood, and he’s a fairly good watch dog once he gets settled at home. He is an incredibly kind, loving, and FLUFFY dog, and he is looking for an equally loving forever home to help him enjoy his retirement.
