My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Athena is a super sweet 6 month old puppy that was rescued from the Lorain County Kennel. She's your typical friendly and playful puppy that is ready and waiting for her forever home. Still a baby she will need lots of patience, training and love...which she is now receiving at the prison.

On June 16, 2015, Athena was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. She is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. She will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison.

If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. This dog will be returning to Friendship in a few weeks so get your adoption app in ASAP. You can find an app at friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. Hand deliver the app to Friendship or call if you live a distance away to see if you can fax one in. Please do not email the app.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
