"Let's GO, GO, GO!" says Duke, a fun-loving, high-energy Springer who loves to stay busy. Once you have his attention, he listens well and has great recall. Duke is very friendly and well socialized.

This beautiful boy came into his foster home about six weeks ago and is fast learning some new skills, such as Sit, Stay, Down, and other commands. He is smart, eager to please, and a fast learner. He would benefit from continued obedience classes as well as learning an activity. He loves to sniff, so smell/retrieval work would be great for him. Duke can run like the wind. He is very lean and fast. He might make a good hunting dog if he can be trained to recall reliably, as he always has his nose to the ground. He could probably catch a bird out of the air--he has quite an impressive vertical leap!

Duke loves to go for walks, play fetch, and go to the dog park. Squirrels easily distract him, so you'll need to hold on tight during walks. Duke plays well and is friendly with all the dogs he meets. He does fine with the resident cats because they are experienced around playful dogs. The cats stand their ground and let Duke know when playtime is over.

Duke is crate trained and has been earning free-rein time in his foster home. He is housetrained, but he still has a lot of puppy in him, so it might be best to confine him to a laundry room or crate when you're away.

Duke will thrive in a Forever Home where he receives lots of attention and gets plenty of exercise. He craves his people and will lie next to them in bed or on the couch. He would be great in a family with another young, energetic dog. If he does not have a canine playmate, Duke will definitely require an adopter who takes his need for daily exercise seriously. He looks forward to being the best companion ever!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Duke.
