Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Sawyer, a fun little puppy looking to find his forever family! Sawyer is a 5-month-old Poodle/terrier cross with a crazy cute curly black coat. He will be a medium sized, low shedding dog. Sawyer is a little shy at first with new people but it doesn’t take him long to warm up to you or another dog as he learns to trust. Sawyer is also discovering all sorts of things as a young pup and his learning so much; he will definitely make a great companion to the right family!
Sawyer came to us from a rural pound where he was deemed an unwanted stray. We find it amazing that no one would claim this sweet dog, as he has been a joy to foster and such a nice boy. However, we now look at this as an opportunity for Sawyer to find a loving forever home where he won’t be allowed to roam free and get lost. We can’t wait for Sawyer to find his forever family that will give him all the love and happiness that he will unquestionably return back.
Sawyer would do well in pretty much any home situation. For a puppy he is pretty quiet inside except for when he takes all his squeaky toys out of the toy box at once because he can’t choose which one is best! He does whine a little in his crate at night but quiets down after a short amount of time. Sawyer enjoys all forms of exercise offered to him and at his precious puppy age he goes from high energy to no energy in just a few minutes flat. Sawyer will require regular walks and playing in the yard especially as he gets bigger. This little bearded cutie has been taken on walks around town and also on hiking trails. He enjoys both types and is walking better on a leash every single day with a little guidance from his foster family. Sawyer has been exposed to social situations, met a few other dogs and is learning to love car rides too. Sawyer is just an overall happy carefree pooch that is ready to become a member of a loving family.
Two dachshunds have become foster siblings to Sawyer and they all get a long remarkably well. Sawyer has also been introduced some children at the local park, which he has acted very well with. We feel confident that Sawyer will do well with a family that has other pets or children keeping in mind he is still a young pup and will need the correct training to learn the rules. Sawyer would also do well as an only pet with the proper attention and exercise. Overall Sawyer is a bit of a sucky puppy that is sure to fit in to many different types of families willing to love and take care of him like he deserves.
Sawyer being only a couple months old is still working on his house training skills and has only had a couple accidents inside. Sawyer will need to be encouraged to go outside and praised when he does. He will also require regular potty breaks before he can become a master! Sawyer has started working on some basic obedience skills and this will need to be continued with his new forever family as he continues to grow up. We are looking for a family for Sawyer that will take him to obedience school so he can work on his obedience skills but also his socialization. It is so important at his young age that he be well socialized so that he can become a confident dog that can go anywhere and do anything! He’s being well socialized in his foster home but his new family will need to continue on with him. Overall, Sawyer is an awesome fun loving dog who will make a loyal companion to his forever family! Will it be you?
