Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Louis was left at the Santa Rosa shelter by his family. Unfortunately he was grossly misunderstood, and the fact that he’s emaciated also tells us he was probably neglected. So sad for a beautiful 2.5 year old dog who just wanted a family to love him!
Now he’s with Rocket Dog and we’re seeking the perfect home for him…one that will understand his needs and love him unconditionally, the way that he loves you! Louis is a chocolate lab pointer mix, he’s a large size, but at the moment only weighs 66 lbs! He lived with a family with two children last, but it looks like he didn’t have much socialization and led a very bored life in a yard and garage. He is well mannered, gets along with other dogs, house broken, loves kids, extremely loving, and intelligent. (Kids over 12+)
Louis has Hunting Dog genes, and his prey drive was ignited by the boring life he led, so no cat or bird friends for Louis’ now. Though he did live in cat harmony in the early years of his life, that’s no longer a possibility. Louis needs a family who will have fun with him. A family who will engage his breeding and take him swimming, take him to Tahoe, take him to the park and play fetch. We do recommend training with Louis and his new family for bonding, but also to teach him a STRONG recall. He needs some good strong leadership as he gets established into his new home.
We know he will thrive, and be your families new Best Friend!
He should be the dog you take with you on vacations to the lake, picnics at the beach, and rides to the grocery store.
He’s ready now for his forever home. Is that home yours?
Please fill out an application and email adopt@rocketdogrescue.org to meet him!
