Ella's Story...
Miss Ella is a beautiful girl who loves her stuffed animals. The shelter has overwhelmed her with all its noise and activity; she came from a quiet home with elderly owners. It takes a little while for Ella to feel comfortable and warm up to you; but once she does, she will always want to be by your side. An ideal home for Ella would be one with no small children and someone with dog experience to help draw her out of her shell and help her learn to have fun again!

Ella's adoption fee is $175; she is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. Some of our pets are in foster care. If you are interested in a specific pet, please contact the shelter at 618-282-7387 to arrange a meeting.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ella, a Columbia Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
