Nelson's Story...
This sweet boy is Nelson. Him and his 8 siblings were born March 28th to a stray momma dog that some folks were feeding occasionally but that was about it. Once the momma had the puppies, these same people came and surrendered her and the 9 puppies to a shelter. The shelter then contacted several rescues but no one wanted to take on the mom as she has a few issues- fixable stuff- but still - no one wanted to miss with her.:( So I said I would take her and the babies so I loaded them all up on 4-10-15 and brought them to my puppy palace. The momma looks to be pretty close to a full blooded bloodhound but could be mixed with black and tan Coonhound. Whatever she is - all the babies look a great deal like her. We unfortunately have no idea on the father and/or fathers but like I said- they all look a lot like momma. They will be spay/neutered on June 2nd and then will be ready for their forever home on the weekend of June 13/14. They will of had 3 sets of puppy shots, wormed multiple times, started on heartworm prevention, on constant flea/tick prevention and also treated prophylactically for some common parasites in the south such as Coccidia and Giardia. Nelson and his family are located in Arkansas but we have transport that takes our adopted rescues to the Northeast most every weekend. For more info on Nelson or one of his 8 siblings please email me, Sandy, at Thank you so much for considering adoption! Sandy Anthony-Hutchins

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nelson, a Westport Bloodhound/Black and Tan Coonhound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bloodhound/Black and Tan Coonhound for sale in Westport, or seeking a Bloodhound/Black and Tan Coonhound puppy from a breeder in Westport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bloodhound/Black and Tan Coonhound breeders who help with Bloodhound/Black and Tan Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westport paves the way for another one to be saved.
