My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name? Joy-Joy

How old are you? About 1.5 years

How much do you weigh? A compact 39lbs

What do you look like? I'm a beautiful dark brindle baby with wonky ears - one up, one down

What do you like to eat? I'm not very picky, but my foster Mom is, so she feeds me grain-free salmon & sweet potato food

What kind of personality do you have? I'm a very happy girl, always prancing around. That's why my foster folks named my Joy-Joy. They said one "Joy" wasn't enough!!

Describe your perfect day: My perfect day would be doing something adventurous with my favorite people. I love water and LOVE to swim. I'm a pretty confident gal and will try most things at least once. I enjoy camping, kayaking and swimming. I even went for a quad ride once!

What is your favorite toy? I love to chew on nylabones!

Do you know any tricks? Yes! I spin on command!

What scares you? Loud voices - I'm sensitive and think I'm in trouble

Have you been around children? Do you like them? I haven't spent much time around children, but they seem okay. The children I've met have been nice.

Do you like cats? I don't really know...

How do you feel about other dogs? I like most other dogs, but I'm told that sometimes I can be bratty around other dogs. Proper introductions are a must. And, my foster Momma says I have an obnoxious play style.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Anywhere as long as there's sunshine and my family!

How is your health? I'm in good health, but can be prone to allergies, so I have to stay on good food.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion? My foster folks have paired me with their resident dog Riley. He's an older dude, but he's pretty cool. He's teaching me the ropes.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I am crate trained and love the safety my crate provides when my foster folks aren't home.

Where do you sleep? At night time, Riley and I usually sleep on the bed with my foster folks. Foster Momma says I'm a great snuggler!

Do you like walking on a leash? Yes! I enjoy walks and am a very polite leash walker!

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? I will chew the heck out of a shoe, if allowed access to them.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside) Yes! I am completely potty trained and have not had one accident since I arrived at my foster folks home!

Do you like playing in water? I absolutely adore water and am a pretty darn good swimmer too! My foster folks have a wading pool in the back yard and I jump in every chance I get. They also took me kayaking to the lake this summer and I decided that I like to dive into the water straight from the kayak!!

What do you love about your foster family? They love me and take good care of me, but they also teach me things, so I'll be ready for my forever home.

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue? I don't remember much about like before I was rescued by the nice folks of NBBR. I only remember being at that awful shelter and my time was running out. I was a volunteer favorite at the shelter and the folks there really wanted to see me get to safety. I am so happy to be alive and in a foster home with folks who love me and care for me.

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a "first come, first serve" basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are set based on the dog. Joy's adoption fee is $200. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, you can visit our website at norcalbullybreedrescue.com and fill out an adoption application. Simply scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "adopt" to find the form. Once the form downloads, fill in the blanks, and return the completed form to us by email at norcalbullybreedrescue@gmail.com. Please allow at least 24 to 48 hours for a reply. Thanks in advance.
