Hank is a young beagle/basset mix from the Terrebonne Shelter in LA. He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and heartworm negative. He is house trained and uses a doggie door. He is great with other dogs. He is a beautiful dog with soulful eyes. He does well on a leash.
We require that our dogs live indoors and prefer a securely fenced yard. We do home visits and check vet references prior to an adoption. Please email QueenB534@aol.com for more information.
Here's an update on Hank:
First featured dog that needs a foster or adoptive home is Hank - Hank is a beagle/basset mix that is super fearful. He needs an experienced dog person that has time to devote to him. I would not be comfortable putting Hank in a home with children. Hank is fine with other dogs. He is completely vetted and ready to roll. He would do best in a foster or adoptive home within 100 miles, in any direction, of New Orleans. If rehabbing an animal is something that you would feel good about doing, Hank is your dog. He has been bounced around a lot and this, I have no doubt, has only contributed to his lack of confidence. Hank was possibly abused by whoever had him before he came into rescue. His fear handicaps him and keeps him from being a happy boy. Please consider opening your heart and home to this super needy hound. The sense of accomplishment as you see him blossom into the dog that we know that he can be will be so worth your efforts. Please email me at QueenB534@aol.com for more information.

About Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. - Louisiana Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer effort to save abandoned and mistreated basset hounds for the love of the breed. Our rescued bassets are from shelters all over Louisiana and Mississippi, are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Changing lifestyles, the economy, and lack of responsibility are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned basset hounds.

Looziana Basset Rescue takes the orphaned bassets into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We provide veterinary care that includes vaccinations, heartworm treatment if necessary, and spaying or neutering. We completely rehabilitate, both physically and emotionally, any adoptable dog and prepare him/her for a "forever home."

Come Meet Our Pets...

When you've looked at all the great animals here and chosen one that you'd like to meet face-to-muzzle, contact us. We'll get an adoption application to you quick as a hungry basset. Then we'll do everything we can to get you and your chosen hound together for an introduction.

To ensure that you and the pet you select are ideal for each other, we'll give you some time after the introduction to think about it.

As of March 2012 our adoption fee is $300. This includes spay/neuter, all shots, fecal and worming, microchip, heartworm test and treatment, if necessary, and all other veterinary care that is needed. The average amount that we invest in each dog is around $900, so this is quite a bargain. Looziana Basset Rescue has an extensive adoption process as well as adoption agreement.
