Duke's Story...
Duke is a 4 years old pitbull/mastiff mix! Duke is about 60 pounds. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL surgery and doing wonderful. His is extremely friendly and loves everyone that he meets! He gets along fine with cats and he plays very well with other dogs. Duke can be a bit stubborn and will need a strong leader as he is very strong himself He knows all of his basic commands and walks fairly well on a leash but does need some help correcting his pulling. Duke enjoys rides in the car, playing with his toys as well hanging out an relaxing. Just because of his size and strength we would like him to go to a home with older kids. A fenced in yard would be great so he could run around and play. Duke is up to date on shots and fixed. 1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wethersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wethersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/Mastiff breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/Mastiff rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wethersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
