My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Forrest is Adopted

Forrest is currently being Fostered in Mentor Ohio, and his adoption fee will be a minimal donation.

Hi There, my name is Forrest, I was named after "Forrest Gump" because of my back legs. You see, I am not able to walk normal like other dogs, I drag my back end most of the time. It's not a big deal to me though, but listen while I tell you my story.

I was born in Korea, and lived my life there up until recently I'm around 4 or 5 yrs old. I was left in a rural outdoor shelter where I was not doing well, you see, because of my back legs not working properly, I was being picked on by all of the other dogs. I thought my short life was going to end there really, being beaten up and picked on by much larger dogs, not having sufficient shelter, very little food, I was ready to give up, sleeping on concrete stone, I laid there with NO hope. I could have easily ended up going to the dog meat farms in Korea, and I don't even want to know what my fate would have been there!!!

Then one day my life changed, and I mean REALLY CHANGED for the better!!!! A woman came to the shelter one day and wanted me, wanted to take me out of this horrid place!!! I couldn't believe it, me, with my crippled back legs!!! She turned out to be a person they call a "Rescuer" a human that gives of themselves to save dogs like me. WOW!!! I had just been saved by a real rescuer, a true Angel in my eyes!!! I was taken from that shelter and spent some time in a boarding kennel, a much better place than the shelter, things were looking much brighter already!!! Then one day I was put on a great Big plane, it was kinda scary, but my rescuer told me I was on my way to a better life, she assured me it was ok, and I trusted her. So there I was, on a big plane for almost 15 hours, it took that long to come here to this country. I was pretty scared I have to admit, I was in the cargo compartment of the plane, lots of noise and very bumpy, but I managed to make it without a scrape.

Then I met my foster mom and dad, my fur brothers and sisters, and I was In a home. I slept in a warm bed, had adequate food, water and veterinary care. I was given a cart for my back legs, so I could walk, yes really walk just like the other dogs!!! I was amazed, I mean here I was, in America all the way from Korea, and now I was able to walk with the assistance of my very own wheels!!!! It was a dream come true, I have been truly blessed, and I will be forever grateful to my human rescuers!!!

I heard that I will be going to a specialist this month, they are going to have my back legs looked at to see if there is any help for me. For now I am looking for a special person or family that will accept me as I am, and see past my disability, I am such a good boy according to my foster momma, I am house trained, and yes I do have control of my bowel and bladder. I know when I am outside, to potty there, I may have an occasional accident, but am really good at going outside. I cannot talk, so my rescuers will never know why I am this way. A vet looked me over and said I was probably born with a deformity of my hips and knees, or it's possible this was all caused by trauma in my past. We will know more about my condition on the 30th of June when I see the specialists at the Akron Veterinary Specialists Hospital.

I get along ok with the other dogs in my foster home, but I get jealous of attention, and when I am getting my share, I get grumpy if another dog comes over and invades my petting time. I would really love to be in a home as an only dog, especially because I am special needs, and require additional care and attention, but I can learn to love another fur brother or sister, as long as we like each other and get along well. I'm willing to try, I just want a home, a family to call my very own, do you think there is that special person or family out there that would accept and adopt me? Please tell me there is, I am so loving and affectionate, I'm very loyal, and listen well, I'm the perfect dog in every way!!! Well almost perfect, all except my back legs, please consider me, I'm deserving of it, I promise you!!!!

I am already neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative.
