My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~ Adoption Fee Applies – please email caarescue@gmail.com ~

My name is Gaby, I was rescued from a Northern Quebec reservation some 2 away from Montreal, see there are no vets there and so there are not many options for spay or neuter programs; most of the stray dogs just roam and roam out on the streets all year long breeding over and over again so it does not take very long for the population to get out of control and a dog cull is scheduled. Thankfully there are some very kind volunteers who are trying to make a difference and one of those volunteers made my rescue off the streets possible finding rescue placement with a CAA Rescue foster family.

And while I grew up on the streets and spent most of time just trying to stay alive, avoiding the mean people who would take great pleasure in catching and hurting me or just plain old trying to find food and keep warm – every day was a struggle for me.

I am looking for a family that I can love forever and they can love me back; I promise I am a very loyal family man

My foster mummy has this to say about me:
Gaby is doing really great!! Still a nervous little girl, but less and less around us.
She sleeps between our 2 pillows now haha she stole our 8 week old puppy Rusty's spot
She is very very very affectionate!
She gets along very well with the doggies, they all accepted her from day 1. She is very interested in the cats... Of course! She whines when she hears them meow and gets anxious...runs after them sometimes (other times they go by her and she doesn't even flinch) but she listens really well when we tell her "no". Gaby did snap at one when we were in bed (she was in bed with me and the cat was on me), but never happened again. So would suggest a home without cats or cats that are very used to dogs.
She doesn't like car rides so far....she drools like crazy!!
Since she is very nervous with sudden movements I would prefer a home with older kids (calm)
She is also very nervous at meal time, I think she is unsure if she is allowed to eat it or not. First days she was eating in a separate room, and ate slowly. Then I let her in with everybody else and it doesn't bother her, they can walk around her and she keeps eating. It's when we start picking up the others' empty bowls that she stops eating, and sometimes does not come back to eat... But i know she is hungry
She is coming out of her shell more and more everyday, she started playing with toys...when Rusty lets her ;)
She was even playing with Layla this morning :))
And then with Rusty, she was showing him how to play it was so cute!!
~~
I will require very little work on leash training so if walking slowly and calmly is your thing then we definitely have one thing in common
I am medium activity level.

If you are looking for those non shedding dogs; then I am probably not your lady.
I was never tested with children but my calm nature tells me that I really probably won’t have issues with children 12 years old and up. I can be nervous and shy so I require knowledge people to help me out of my bubble like my foster mama is doing with just kind and patience and love

I have not been left alone for an extended period of time in foster care but when I have been left alone I had no separation issues
I am dog and people friendly

If you are looking for a best friend and promise to always love me; if you are reading my story and know that it is me that is missing in your life and that I am the one that can make your heart complete please email CAARescue@gmail.com and ask them for an application for adoption. It is a few questions and it will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete but once you do that we can meet… maybe go for a stroll together to see if we can be best friends for life
