My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET PEPPER -

This Dog is not currently at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. This is a courtesy listing. For more information, please email pfautony@yahoo.com or Jenell at jrangan@comcast.net.

According to her previous family, PEPPER is a very loving and affectionate family doxie and is great with kids and other dogs. She loves to love and will sit comfortably in your lap forever. PEPPER is a special needs doxie who seems to have experienced an injury which caused her to go to sleep one night and woke up the next morning unable to walk. Unfortunately, due to her physical needs and changed life circumstances of her family, PEPPER finds herself in need of a new, loving forever family. If you have ever been loved by a special needs pet, you know how wonderful they are and how much richer your life is because of their love. Are you the family who would like to be made richer by PEPPER's love and affection?

PEPPER will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. Like all Dachshunds, PEPPER enjoys warming her little bones in the sunshine, so PEPPER needs a secure fenced yard to safely relax and explore. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give PEPPER a happy, carefree life that she deserves? Just a reminder that she is not currently at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc., so if you're interested in learning more, please email pfautony@yahoo.com or Jenell at jrangan@comcast.net.
