My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TEKO is a 6 year old neutered chocolate male Lab that weighs 70 pounds. He is a sweet, calm guy that is looking for a new family that will give him the affection and attention that he deserves. Teko is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. He likes to retrieve but is not a nut about it. Teko has been living in an outside dog run but did previously live inside the home. He may need a little time to adjust back to indoor living. Teko is house and crate trained (but he no longer needs a crate). He does pull some on leash so an easy walk harness should help. He knows basic commands such as "come, sit, get back and go". Teko is smart and can get out of a fenced yard if he's not being supervised, so he should be supervised when outside. Teko is good with other dogs but does not care for small dogs. No cat history but has a prey drive so likely no cats. He has previously lived with teen children and done well. Teko is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (8/21): TEKO'S first trip to the park after his heartworm treatment. FM said I should be named zig-zag cuz there were so many wonderful smells. I walked very well on my harness and FM was ready when I saw a wood chuck and held on tight and redirected me. I came home and took a nice nap.

Update (8/6): Teko is doing such a great job staying calm in his crate after treatment. 6 days to go!
Teko doesn't seem to need to have someone around all the time, loves kisses, treats gently, is a low key gentle guy who walks well on a leash. His chocolate coat is silky soft and shiny. Teko would love to find a family to give him snuggles when the really severe storms come through. He has been trained to not get on the furniture or go into the kitchen without permission. Teko is a tall, long gentle guy.

Update (7/17): Teko is doing well and is recovering from his heartworm treatment. He needs some quiet time for the next 30 days while he recovers. He sleeps like a baby on dog bed near foster mom. A solid 8-9 hrs per night. He is solidly house trained, does well in the crate. He likes attention from men. He is a calm dog. He walks well on the leash. This guy is a gem!

From his evaluator: "Teko gave me lots of gentle kisses! Teko was calm and very sweet. He was a bit unsure in the unfamiliar situation. Teko was previously outside on the dog run during the day and brought inside in the evenings to sleep in the laundry room." Owner give up to lab rescue due to having to live outdoors because the other dog in the home is going after him
