My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hero lost his home when his owner, a U.S. Navy veteran, had to give up his 8 dogs after a debilitating stroke left him unable to care for them. Before Adopt-A-Pet and other rescue groups stepped in to save them, the dogs were left alone in the house. Hero, (who answers to “Harry”) is so happy to be with people again, he has bonded quickly with both foster moms he's had along the way. Hero came with complete vet records (pardon the pun) so we know he was well-cared for. His breed is noted as Schnauzer/terrier mix, but he could be a mish-mash of many breeds. (He looks like he has some spaniel in him, don't you think?) Though he may look black in some of his photos, he's actually a deep chocolate brown. We have had differing opinions as to his age – his vet records would indicate he’s 4 now, but his foster home believes he’s probably more like 7-8 years old, give or take, and weighs about 18 pounds. Hero only barks when someone comes to the door - he never growls or guards, and he is house-trained when taken out regularly. He has a delightful personality, being very sweet and well-behaved. He's fine with people he knows but a bit shy around strangers.

Hero/Harry has become very attached to his foster brother, Scamper. They are almost always together, whether it be playing, sleeping, chilling or eating, and both walk well on leash. We can’t bare to separate them, so for this reason we are waiting for someone who would like to adopt these 2 dogs together. Check out the video of these two having a blast playing with each other. But don't worry that their attachment to each other doesn’t mean they won’t be loving to their human(s)… quite the opposite. They will take
all the lap time and loving they can get. So if you’re looking for a ready-made pair, please take the time to meet these two great pooches.

The discounted adoption fee for both dogs is $400. Hero’s vetting includes: vet exam, heartworm test (neg), distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, flea/tick preventative, deworming, heartworm preventative, microchip, and neuter.
