Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Penny is a very friendly Chihuahua who is five years old and overweight at 9 pounds. Her owner surrendered her to a Minnesota shelter: the reason—they didn’t want her anymore. We can’t figure that one out as Penny is very sweet, loves to cuddle in bed or on foster’s laps, and is overall just a very easy little girl. She can be a bit shy when she first meets you but quickly warms up and settles in for some loving. Penny is usure of other dog but if they are gentle she is okay with them. We suspect she is okay with cats as she’s too plump to chase them. Penny will do best with teens and adults, and is perfect for a quiet home who wants a sweet little lap dog. Honey is perfect house trained and is kennel trained but doesn’t need to be kenneled as she has good indoor manners. chi. Likes to cuddle in bed or on fosters lap regularly. She is a very quiet girl who easy can go anywhere with you. She is enjoying going on daily walks with her daily walks from her foster family. She needs a fenced yard or to be leashed when taken outside. Penny would do well in a condo, townhome or house. Penny is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. She is spayed, is current on all shots, heartworm test, worming, and she has a HomeAgain microchip. Her adoption fee is $300 plus sales tax
