Josie--pending's Story...
Country life, beautiful fields, wide open skies and.....dogs dumped and abandoned on your road. Yes this sweet girl Josie, was found in a field down the way (and waiting for someone to come back and get her). One of our morning volunteers saw her and scooped her up and brought her here. She is very young and still growing, we think about 6 months to a year old tops. Breed? We are guessing either Mountain Cur or Plott Hound. Both are working dogs whose average weight for a female can be 60 pounds. So like a Doberman, they need lots of exercise and are very smart and purpose driven. Josie is very dog friendly and played with a large male (Dieter) very well; they would roll and romp and do the usual "wild" dobie play we are all used to. She is very friendly with her humans also and has attended events and been quite good at working the room and winning people over quickly. Pictures do not do her coat justice as it is so gorgeous it almost looks fake. She has perfect manners with all our volunteers, but does still need help with potty training. It is very hard to effectively potty train in a kennel setting. Once in a normal environment where she will have more time with her people she will no doubt learn the ropes quickly as she is a smart little (growing) girl.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Josie--pending, a New Richmond Mountain Cur/Plott Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mountain Cur/Plott Hound for sale in New Richmond, or seeking a Mountain Cur/Plott Hound dog from a breeder in New Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mountain Cur/Plott Hound breeders who help with Mountain Cur/Plott Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
