Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CODY: 8 Year Old Neutered male chocolate Lab 65 lbs
Cody had been wandering around a neighborhood in Los Banos in the San Joaquin Valley when he was picked up by animal control as a stray. He passed the shelter temperament tests with flying colors, but his skin and coat were in terrible shape due to allergies and neglect. Cody had a microchip, but the contact number had been disconnected...just like Cody and his previous owner.
A Lab Rescue volunteer stepped in and arranged for Cody to be vaccinated and brought to the Bay Area, where he was welcomed into the home of long-time fosters, who have adopted two of their foster dogs, but always have room to help another guy down on his luck.
Cody has been under a vet's care for the past several weeks, taking medication, getting special baths and food, and his transformation has amazed everyone, including the vet. We expect Cody to make a full recovery, and already, his coat is growing in healthy and shiny, revealing a Lab as handsome as he is sweet. Did we mention that Cody is sweet?
What a deserving dog! Despite being dumped by his owner, and enduring the discomfort caused by his skin condition, Cody has always been kind-hearted and friendly to all. He loves playing with his foster brothers, and going for long walks and swims. His fosters rave about his cheerfulness, soft mouth when taking treats and the ease of having him around the house. Cody has not been cat-tested, but he is so easy-going, we think he would be fine with a dog-savvy cat.
We'd love for Cody to have a home and family where he will continue to receive the care and attention he'll need to complete the recovery established by his foster family. A grain-free diet, consistent grooming, skin and ear care will keep Cody healthy and happy. Cody is a social boy, so being around his people most of the day, including children aged six or older, is tops on our wish list for him.
Cody is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. Cody is located in San Francisco.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
