My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NESSA: 8 Month Old Female Non-Spayed Lab/Great Pyrenees Mix (Long White Coat) 60 Pounds

(GGLRR is working on getting them spayed.)

Hi, my name is Nessa!

I was found as a stray pup a few weeks ago with my two sisters out in the foothills of Stockton. The lady who found me had seen my parents roaming around and knew that my mom was a black Labrador and my dad was a Great Pyrenees. Sadly, no one was caring for us and we were left to fend for ourselves. A nice lady knew that we were stray dogs hanging out on someone’s property and that it was a dangerous situation so she sent one of her workers to come rescue us. She kept us safe and fed until Golden Gate Lab Rescue could help. We have been with a wonderful foster who has given us a lot of love and security. At first, I didn’t know how to walk on a leash and now I heel like a perfect lady! I get a little nervous when I hear cars go by, but I am still learning all of these city sounds! I am the leader of the pack with my two sisters and will often push my way to the front for attention. I am usually the first to explore and check out new things. I have good manners when eating my meals and I am learning to go to the door when I need to go outside to potty. I am looking for a leader who will continue to slowly expose me to new sights and sounds so that I can continue the wonderful foundation I have been given and gain more confidence. I am a super smart girl and learn very quickly. Our foster is working on crate training with us and we are doing well. We even got to go on a camping trip with our foster! With the mix of breeds that I am, I will need a family who can give me a couple of walks each day and a family who will spend time grooming my lovely coat as it is longer than an average Labrador’s coat. I do sometimes jump up for attention, so a family with children 7 or up would be ideal for me. I am a sweetheart of a girl and ready for my forever family! We would love for Nessa to go to a family where she would have someone home with her throughout the day to give her continued confidence and/or with another dog companion in the home.

GGLRR has gotten them a well check, all their shots, dewormed, microchipped and we are working on getting them spayed.

They are located in Brentwood.

If you are interested in having an active companion, call Rescue Rep Liz 415-613-6374 or email liz@jobshopsf.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
