Petey's Story...
**Petey is currently living with our veterinarian in Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption.**

Petey is just perfect in our eyes! He’s a 3 year old Chihuahua and just 7 pounds. He’s a super sweet and bouncy little fella with great energy. He has a job, which is warming laps on chilly days and he excels at this role. His coloring is different than most Chihuahuas, but is simply adorable with the black highlights. When he is relaxed, his ears seem like they could be wings. He is simply adorable and sweet!

Petey was found as a stray by a client of our vet and thankfully so because he was really suffering without care. He was very tiny and had a really bad skin infection that needed immediate and continued treatment. His rescuer wasn’t in a position to keep him, so our vet decided that she would keep him, get him healthy again and we would find him a forever family.

We say he’s perfect because he’s super sweet, easy-going and loves to play. He is great with other dogs and even gets along with cats. Most of them are larger than he is, so that’s reason enough not to chase. He is a healthy little guy and the skin infection was healed and never returned once treatment was finished.

Petey is pretty shy at first when he meets new people, but if you show him just an ounce of affection and snuggle him, he’s yours forever. He doesn’t bark much, but occasionally will do some cheering when the other dogs he lives with start up. Petey is potty trained, kennel trained and does fairly well on his leash. He doesn’t take too many leash walks right now, but would LOVE to have a walking partner and with a couple weeks of routine, he’d master it.

He really enjoys playing with his little dog friends and would be a great dog park boy. He loves to be outdoors and although he’s not a big trail runner due to his size, he sure would love to go on lots of adventures with his new family. His ideal family is home often, loves to cuddle and watch movies, might consider training him to ride in the basket of your bicycle and ride in the car too. He’s really tiny, so older kids that realize he’s not a toy would probably be best.

Petey is currently living in Houston, Texas with our veterinarian, but he longs to live with a family that loves him dearly. If this perfect, tiny, bouncy boy is your next movie companion, please email us at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Petey, a Boston Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Boston, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Boston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Boston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Boston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Boston paves the way for another one to be saved.
