My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COCHISE is a 1 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 50 pounds. Cochise is a super sweet, loving, calm boy. He had it rough before coming to us. He had either an issue from birth or trauma early on that left him with a painful hip and knee. Thankfully he ended up with us and Dr Nay did an FHO for his hip and a Patella Osteo Modification to fix his knee. He is being such a great patient and doing great with his cage rest. He is loved by all the vet girls and they say he is a wonderful guy! More on Cochise as we move him into foster. Cochise is keeping his run clean at the vet. He is calm and easy on leash, making his potty breaks a breeze. He is quiet and gentle for a young boy. He is good with other dogs. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (7/7): Cochise (LR 150368) writes,
GET ME OUTA HERE!!! It’s not bad enough that the bird named Purple Martin won’t let me go potty in peace- they put me in the big water dish today and told me to swim. Now I like drinking out of that thing, but for them to put clothes on me and lower me in- I just can’t describe the indignity! FM said I did pretty well for a first timer and I really enjoyed the full body rubdown afterwards.
My name is Cochise and I’m a year old pocket size chocolate drop that is content to just nuzzle and snuggle. My FP’s tell me I am more mellow than their dogs who are 10 times my age. I am 100% house broken, not afraid of thunderstorms or fireworks, but I am a little wary of cats. I act like I can’t see them, but they still rub up against me and I’m awfully glad when they go away.
I had my hip and knee redone and am still on exercise restriction for two more weeks so I haven’t met the resident dogs yet, although we bark at each other through the glass. The FP’s tell me I will soon meet the ladies and they will be able to stay and keep me company as long as I don’t play with them. I do love my tennis balls and like to hoard them- it’s fun surrounding myself with them and admiring them. There are a couple other soft toys that I really like too.
Well, if you are interested in a well-mannered snugglebunny who loves his belly scratches, ask your AC about Cochise (or Cheeseball, as the FP’s call me). Oh, and I love the car, so the further away you live from my fosters, the better!!!

Update (6/26): Cochise! (150368)- pocket-sized chocolate!
My name is Cochise, but FM calls me Cheeseball, which I come to also. I’m a one year old 50# chocolate lab who is recovering from hip and knee surgery (so I am still on exercise restrictions for another month.) They say I got hurt either when I was being born or pretty early in life.
Since I can’t play yet, I entertain myself by taking one toy at a time from one dog bed to another, but the second I see one of the FPs smiling at me, I roll over for a belly scratch. I have been loose in the dog apartment for up to 3 hours at a time and haven’t had any accidents at all or paid any attention to things that don’t belong to me. FM said I must have something else in me other than Lab because I won’t eat until I have been loved on enough, and then I just graze. I do pretty well on the leash too, except I almost ran FM into a tree when I saw deer during my walk.
I was a stray so no one knows my kid history. I haven’t been around the resident crazies or cats yet and won’t be for a bit longer, so you’ll have to wait for that chapter to be written. If you have the slightest interest in a compact lovebug who is incredibly calm and polite for a youngster, please contact your AC about Cheeseball- er, Cochise.
