Nigel's Story...
Adoption fee on this dog is $350.

We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy or EMAIL us at info@gcgsr.org for more information.

Nigel is an 8 week old adorable male puppy. He was a stray from a Sacramento area shelter, so there is no background information on him. He had several foxtails when found, including in his eye and one ear, and he is on eye ointment and antibiotics because of it.

The volunteer who picked him up had him in her lap while transporting him. He slept the entire time. In a crate he cries, but eventually tires out and sleeps. He is in a home with two large male German Shepherds. He isn't afraid of them, but so far doesn't engage in play either.

Nigel will explore the yard, but when you clap or call for him, he comes bounding back, puppy style. He loves to be held and will be a great companion to some lucky adopter.

This dog is a Level 2. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our GCGSR Dogs page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nigel, a Sacramento German Shepherd Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog puppy from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
