My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Loki is currently living in Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption.**

STUNNING and LOVE-A-BULL! This is the amazing Loki, our 2 year old, 60 pound, male, Staffordshire/Labrador Mix. His amber eyes and flawless chocolate coat are fabulous and as much as we enjoy his awesome personality, we want him to find his very own family and live the life that he deserves. He was used and neglected his whole life until he joined our program. He was good enough to be the stud for a breeder, but not important enough to consider as part of the family. He lived in a backyard with minimal interaction and no training. His sole purpose was to breed and make beautiful puppies for profit. When his owners were getting out of the business, he was scheduled to be put to sleep. Reggie’s Friends stepped in and now he is important and will be forevermore.

Loki is an affectionate, gentle giant who loves his people! This was shocking to us considering he never had positive experiences with his previous owners. His sweet looks draw people in, but it’s his personality that makes you stick around. He loves to spend time with his human friends and would walk to the end of the Earth with them. He’s beyond loyal and his people are his priority. He gets along with other dogs too, but hasn’t created any strong bonds with them at this point because he truly is so focused on spending all of his time with the humans.

Loki’s favorite thing to do is to cuddle up in the first lap available. Yes, he is a lap dog and typically takes up the whole lap and spills off of the sides too. He has great energy too with this solid body and he plans to use that to run, play, hike, run alongside the bike and explore trails. He is a strong boy and needs a leader in his life while he learns the ropes of being a family member. His leash skills are shaky and as much as he wants to be walking, he needs someone with patience and determination to help him get there.

He has proven to us that he is quite the smarty pants too. He has already learned some basic commands and picks up routines and changes rather quickly. We feel that he will have a very easy adjustment period when he joins his new family. He is very treat, food and belly rub motivated, so we’ve been taking advantage of that to continue training.

Loki is a gentleman inside the house. He is potty trained, crate trained and other than the needed leash assistance, he’s really a good boy. Loki’s ideal family is active, patient, loves a big snuggly pup, wants to take him everywhere, realizes that he is an inside dog despite his stature and will give him more love than they knew possible because that is what he is going to give them. He is good with kids, indifferent with dogs and not a fan of cats.

Another downside of being a neglected backyard dogs is that in Texas you will be infected with heartworms. Loki is moderately positive for heartworms and has already started his treatment. He takes a pill on the 1st and 15th of every month for 6-12 months, so the treatment is very easy for his new owner. The medications are also all paid for by our group. This treatment does not affect his activity level or his personality in any way.

Loki is currently living in Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption. His fee is $450 to help cover the cost of his airline flight and travel crate. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. If you need a lap dog in your life, don’t look any further than lovable Loki. Please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org for more information and an adoption application.
