Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 30 lbs
Variety: Field
Meet petite Gabriel. Don't let his size fool you; Gabriel, or Gabe, as his foster mom calls him, is a spitfire, and he has a vertical leap that demonstrates why Springers have the "Spring" in their name! Weighing in at only thirty pounds, he makes a wonderful little snuggler after he gets the exercise he needs. The vet that said Gabe could stand to gain a few more pounds, so he is on high-performance food as a start.
On a recent road trip, Gabriel's foster mom learned that he loves to ride in the car and is well behaved, too. Unlike many other dogs, he knows to stay in the car when the door opens until he's given the command to come out. This boy is housetrained, and he will go into his crate with a treat. (That shows that he's smart, too!) Gabe takes treats quite nicely and knows the commands Sit and Stay. He is a good companion walker but is strong on the leash, and he would benefit from a refresher course in basic leash walking and other behaviors. It's a good thing that he's food motivated!
Gabriel lives in a home that has a fenced yard, and his previous owners reported that he was trained to an invisible fence. When he does get out into the yard, he runs like the wind. His foster home has three other Springers, so he will engage in play with them if he can, but he respects the other dogs if they don't want to play. Gabe also lived with a cat in the past, and his foster home has cats. He does well with them, but he wants to play with them and may bark at first.
Gabriel is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He's a little guy with a big heart. If you think Gabriel would be a good fit for you, contact his case managers to find out more!
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Gabriel.
