My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUCK is a 11 month old neutered black male Lab that weighs 63 pounds. He is a happy and friendly pup. He is a little unsure when he first meets you but after that he is fine. He likes retrieve and carry something in his mouth most of the time. He enjoys playing in the kiddie pool with the kids but hasn't been swimming yet. He is going to a foster tomorrow. Good with other dogs had him out with several at the kennel. No cat history. Knows Sit, stay, ready, go get ball and bring back.. Will have a training addendum as he is young and can stand some additional training. Okay pulls some on lead, good with an Easy Walk harness. then settles down. Buck is crate trained and may be house trained. Crated when owners gone. Good in house but still has some puppy behavior (if it's out and about it's his to pay with. He was born 7-13-14.
Buck 11 month old black neutered male Up to date on vaccines. Neutered 6/18 so will have to take it easy until about 2 July. Buck's is on Cephalexin to prevent infection of his neck which is healing from an embedded collar. Buck has a deformity to his head and his left eye has Microphthalmia which is a condition in which the eyeball is smaller than normal. He has an under bite, which does not bother him. See his Youtube video below. Buck is approved for kids ages 6+.

Update (8/12): Buck is a love he is a pleasure to foster I have been able to have him off leash while playing in the yard.
He likes a lot of exercise and loves to run. One thought is that if he likes the water, I think he could make a great dock dog, as he loves to run and jump ... And he just soars effortlessly as he covers huge distances. It is amazing and makes it look like Bailey is wearing lead shoes as he lumbers across the same obstacle. He loves his walks and is getting used to walking well on leash. He loves to meet people on the trail. He loves the toys and Nylabones available here, and will play independently, but he really enjoys the wrestling matches with Bailey and the one year old Golden across the street.
He is food motivated and has learned that he remain in a sit the entire time I am preparing the food, and that he cannot inhale his and then try to get Bailey's.
He is house & crate trained. He does enjoy being on the sofa.
He has not gone upstairs, but the stairs are not carpeted, plus Bailey does not go upstairs. He has no trouble with the stairs out front or on the deck, so I think it is just that they are not carpeted and that he shadows Bailey (for everything!).
Buck loves to get brushed and will let you manipulate very part, even the ears, tail, and feet that some dogs dislike.
The prior foster mentioned he is mouthy, and that has gotten better with verbal correction (and he watches how Bailey doesn't do these things...) but what I have really notices is that when he is tired and begins to settle down, he wants to be close and gives the little gnawing love bites with just the front teeth. We are working on that, but it is clearly not biting, rather the love bites as he is getting settled and comfy...which I have tried to correct and redirect to a stuffed toy. I am not worried about this, but if somebody doesn't know how to interpret his actions, or have otherwise had a puppy, they may not know how to interpret his behavior.
He has enjoyed his vitamins, high quality food (including chicken and ground beef), daily brushings, so his coat looks fantastic. I think his weight is perfect now as he has been quite active, and I can begin to see some nice definition in legs as he has continued to increase his conditioning with running in the yard and walks on the trail.
His vision does not appear to be impaired whatsoever as he can spot the ball midair.
He is still very much a puppy and will counter surf if given a chance so I crate him while I am at work.
He is a real love and just needs some more time, attention, and love.

Update (7/28): Buck is an energetic and affectionate 1 year old. He loves to burn off energy by taking long walks, playing sweetly with his foster brother, and playing fetch in the backyard. He knows "drop it", "sit", "stay", "ready", and "get the ball" for playing fetch. He is a quick learner, learning "lay down" in a matter of minutes! He has also learned how to go up and down the stairs, so he will do just fine in a two-story home! This boy will keep you in a good mood all day, and have you laughing at some of his silly antics. He loves to nap sprawled out on his back, and he'll greet you by spinning in circles around your legs and giving you "kisses" if you ask. He would love to go to a home with another dog that he can run around and play keep away with, but he would also do just fine as the only dog in the house. He needs a family that will forgive his occasional puppy behavior (mouthing) and provide consistent training and positive reinforcement. He is treat-motivated, very focused, and will work hard at learning anything you ask of him!

Update (6/29): He's a sweetheart who loves playtime and attention. He is a bit of a goofy guy with a silly overbite and a wrinkled forehead, but make no mistake, he is all lab! He loves to lean, to give a flurry of sweet kisses, and he enjoys his kibbles and treats. He has had a blast on walks and outside in the yard playing fetch and running around with his foster brother. He walks very nicely with an easy walk harness (necessary right now because he's recovering from an embedded collar wound), and settles down well after walks and playtime. He doesn't seem to have a prey drive, but bounces up and down wanting to play when he sees people and other dogs out on walks. He is crate and house trained! He will let you know when he needs to do his business by standing by the back door. The commands he knows right now are: Sit, Stay, and "In your crate". One thing Mr. Buck is not too sure about right now are stairs, but we are working on getting more comfortable with those. (probably never been in a two story house)!
