Josie's Story...
Josie has been a good dog, living with the same family all of her life. However, the family has recently endured medical hardships, and they would like to find Josie another home where she can receive the love and care that she deserves. She is spayed and microchipped, but her shots must be brought up to date as their own medical expenses have not permitted a vet visit. Josie loves to go for walks in the snow! She warmed up to the ARF members who visited her quickly, and they enjoyed interacting with her. She was brought to the local animal shelter where she was walked on the grounds to see how she reacted with other dogs, and she seemed a bit nervous and shy. She wasn't aggressive as she was introduced to dogs, but she does not like cats. Josie walks well on the leash, jumps into the vehicle to go for a ride, and likes to be petted. She is now six years old and has no known medical issues. She was given a dewormer by one of our members, and although she didn't want it, he administered it without any snapping or growling as he pushed the pill into her mouth. Of course, she then was praised and treated. Josie has an outside kennel but goes into the garage in cold weather. She never messes her crate in the garage, so she would likely house train quickly. She seems to be a very smart and nice dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Josie, a Ripley German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Ripley, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Ripley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ripley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ripley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ripley paves the way for another one to be saved.
