Doolie is a 4-year-old Corgi/Chihuahua/Pug mix rescued from the Animal Friends of the Valleys Shelter in Wildomar. He was at risk of being euthanized as he had incurred a wound to his back right foot (which represented cost and medical care to an adopter). Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue stepped in to save this sweet boy. His foot is now healed (however, he will always have scarring on his foot) and he is ready to find his forever home. At 22 lbs., he is a great size, leaning more towards medium, so he is neither a little dog, nor a larger dog. He has the one ear up, one ear down thing going on that is very cute.

Doolie is a sweet and gentle, ‘more on the serious side’ dog with a very kind heart. He is a quiet, loving and warm Velcro dog who loves to be near his people, follow you everywhere, and be in the same room that you are in. This is never bothersome because he is so quiet about it. Doolie is crate-trained and potty-trained (and he also understands the use of the dog door) but he infinitely prefers to sleep with, and hang out with his person or people in the big human bed. And he is so calm that this is not a problem. When watching T.V. or even sleeping, Doolie hardly moves.

Doolie gets along well with all of the other dogs at the rescue however; he does not really show any type of dependence on them. His main interest is the people. He likes to be wherever the people are. But it is the strangest thing. Doolie becomes a completely different dog when out in public. All of a sudden, Doolie is Mr. Friendly/Mr. Social, trying to make friends with every person and dog that we come across. He gets very excited and happy whenever he gets to go out on an outing and he becomes Mr. Socialite to every living creature. This makes for a great dog that one can take out in public. He rides well in the car and walks nicely on the leash.

While under the rescue’s care, Doolie has never been around kids, but we feel he would be fine with kids since he is so gentle and peaceful, however, kids should also be gentle with dogs and never get in the face of any dog who does not yet know you. Having said this, I do not sense that Doolie with be a “playmate” for kids, or a “fun dog” for kids. We do not know how Doolie is with cats. He is not a barker, a digger, nor a destructor of any property. He enjoys chewing on a rawhide chip but shows no interest in toys. He loves to hang out with you and be near you and go on outings and cuddle or hang out with you on the bed when you are reading or watching T.V. He is a very kind and sweet, gentle companion dog.

The home we seek for Doolie is one where he will be an indoor dog, allowed to come in and out at will either by way of a dog door or an open door. He should never be excluded to the outdoors, and must be allowed to be near his people as a quiet, constant companion; also a home where at least one person is at home more so than not, and finally, a home where his people will occasionally take him with them on car rides and outings. We prefer someone who will let Doolie sleep on the big human bed as well. He can be the only dog in the home, or he can be with other friendly, accepting pups. Doolie is a very easy and friendly dog, calm and gentle, well-behaved and easy to manage, so our hope is to find a home for this dear sweet boy that is more allowing and less restrictive.

Doolie is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, including rabies, de-wormed, and also micro-chipped.
