Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Niko and I’m a 7 year old Akita who weighs around 95 lbs. Let me tell you a little about myself. I can be the biggest couch potato who loves to hang out with my foster family, but I also enjoy taking long walks. My foster mom walks me for 40 minutes every day and if she tries to cut it short, I’ll stop and let her know we aren’t done yet. I have very good manners inside the house. While I do well with the other resident dogs in my foster home, I would really prefer to be the only dog. I like older children who are dog savvy and know how to give me my space when I need it. You’re probably wondering where I came from. Freedom Farm rescued me 5 years ago when I ended up at a Ft. Campbell shelter. In my first foster home, I was the only dog and I loved all the attention. Shortly after I was rescued, the 2010 flood happened. My foster mom was so scared because her house had started to flood. So she grabbed me and my leash and we headed to higher ground. Luckily, some nice people were out in boats helping families and they picked us up and took us to safety. After that, I did have to go into boarding for a little while. That’s when a family saw me and took me home. Sadly, I was recently returned to Freedom Farm because I wasn’t used to having a baby around. Overall, I’m in pretty good health for my age. I do have thyroid medicine that I take every day and I’m taking glucosamine to help with my arthritis. I’m a sweet boy who loves to meet new people. Do you have a spot on your couch for me?
