Reecy loves people so much, and will work hard to learn things for pretty much any person...especially when treats are involved.
Over these years without her own home and family, she has become pickier about which dogs she wants to be friends with, but she does still have a few doggie friends that she loves a lot! In fact, she currently shares a dog run with another dog and she defers to his bossiness.
Reecy is one of those curious dogs who wants to know about life outside the fence, so she cannot be left alone for long when outside...she has been known to dig her way out to explore. But she loves people so much, we think that once she has her own human, she won't want to hang out outside without her person anyway. She adores car rides...absolutely lives for them...and does great in the car.
Due to her 100 lb size, let's plan to avoid homes with little kids who might get bowled over in the midst of the joy that is family time. While we're at it, let's rule out homes with cats or small animals. We do think she could share a home with another dog, it just needs to be the right match.
At this point, we estimate Reecy to be 4-5 years old. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention to stay that way.
If you feel like you are Reecy's human, and would like to be considered for adoption, please fill out an application at http://www.northmeckanimalrescue.org/adoption-information/adoption-application/
Reecy's adoption fee of $100 will be handed over immediately to a trainer, who will work with the adoptive family in order to provide a smooth transition for all involved.
If you would like to be considered as a foster home for Reecy, please apply here
We appreciate your patience as our volunteer-only gang works its way through the daily responsibilities with the dogs, including the related computer time. We do our best to review applications just as fast as we can in between the daily care, the unexpected rescue missions, and the rarely-planned trips to the vet.
