My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DIXIE is a 5 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 100 pounds and needs to lose 20-25. Dixie & Rex are siblings who have been together since they were puppies and must be adopted together. Dixie & Rex are friendly and like attention, where one goes the other is not far behind. Rex is laid back and easy going, Dixie is the boss. When you toss them a toy both chase after it and Rex will normally bring it back. They haven't been swimming much but do like to go waist high wading in a local stream. Right now they are overweight from too much food and not enough exercise, we are working on getting their weight down. They love to get on the couch if they are allowed to. They are siblings and dependent on each other so must be adopted together.
Kids 7 and up grandchild played with them 2-3 times a week when daughter was visiting. Good with other dogs. Rex is good with cats but no rabbits, Dixie will chase them. They have pretty good manners and knows sit, come, down. Pull on lead okay with and easy walk. House and crate trained though they haven't been in a crate since they were puppies. They can be left alone without getting into trouble.
Dixie & Rex's story - A local ACO contacted us about two labs whose owner family had called about bringing them in to the shelter as they could not keep them. Owner has the onset of Alzheimer's and is moving into an assisted living home so had to give them up. The pups had been living in her empty house until we could take them in she was going over in the morning to let them out then bringing them, inside at night. Daughter was concerned that her mother might get lost going over to her old house also there was no electricity and she was worried about how hot the house was getting for the dogs at night. Dixie and Rex are siblings and have been together since they were puppies. Originally Mother had Dixie and daughter had Rex and lived next door to her so the pups were always together. A couple of years ago daughter moved to a smaller house so mother took Rex and hey have been together since. She is approved for kids 7+. More info soon!
