Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Candy is an ADORABLE mix of Italian greyhound and Chihuahua, a breed mix referred to affectionately as a Chiggy. She is about 9 months old and is 6 pounds. Candy is very much a puppy. She is very playful and loves her toys and to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She will do best in a home with another playful dog. Candy is doing well on her house training and goes out regularly with the other dogs. At night she sleeps in a crate and sometimes she just hangs out in it for a nap. Candy eats a mix of kibble and a bit of soft food and she has a good appetite. She has her favorite treats too for when she does her potty outside. If you are interested in adopting Candy, there are several requirements because she had a difficult start in life and we want to ensure that her adoption is successful for her and her family. She does best with kids 13 and older, and it takes her time to adjust to any new people. Treats help with this process, but it will take her a week to decide her new family members are okay. She must have a fenced yard--she runs like the wind and because of her past life, fear can make her fly. We STRONGLY prefer she have another very playful canine in her life. She so much wants to play with another dog. She will probably be fine with cats but is not cat tested. And one more thing--Candy does need a stay at home adult who will help continue her socialization, training, house training and well being. We know this is quite a lot of requirements, but this little one is doing so well now and we want that to continue. If you meet these criteria and want to adopt Candy, please read her webpage for more information. Candy is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. She is spayed, is current on all shots, worming heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and he has a HomeAgain microchip. She also has a very nice wardrobe for summer and winter. Her adoption fee is $325 plus sales tax
