Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET OTIS -
Otis is a very handsome 3 year old, 16 lb tweenie Double Dapple pie bald longhaired Dachshund. He is deaf but has no vision impairments’. Otis is very social and loves the world around him. He adores his people and enjoys playing games and fetch. He LOVES all his toys and bully sticks. Otis prefers to stay outside in the garden or on the deck and he likes walks. He really likes just looking around or walking the farmland, if it's not raining. Otis is very loyal and loving. He greets you with kisses and tail wags and is always a happy boy. He knows some sign language and he is crate trained. He does walk with a very slight stumble. This is one very special amazing survivor and one of ODR-Inc's best saves. He so deserves to have a family, but he needs to be your one and only..no other kids (for or human). He is very smart and can adapt to most environments.
Darling OTIS enjoys playing outside and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so he needs a secure fenced yard to explore safely as he continues to recover his mobility. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give OTIS a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
