My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Tyson" is a nearly 7-mos old (born 12-8-14) GSD mix pup who is incredibly affectionate and mellow for his age. Tyson loves to be near his person (me) and is rarely out of my sight. He gets along great with the other GSRSV dogs and clearly has a submissive personality. He's finally starting to play rough with some of the other dogs, which shows that he's building confidence.

Tyson weighs about 55 lbs and of course is still growing. His father is a large, solid black GSD and his mother is reportedly a GSD/Bernese Mtn Dog, though she looks mostly GSD. You can see the Bernese Mtn Dog in Tyson in his markings and the soft texture of his fur. There is the possibility that his right ear may never stand up, as Bernese Mtn Dogs have floppy ears. Tyson has received both of his distemper/parvo vaccinations as well as his rabies vaccination, so he won't need any further vaccinations until June 2016. He is scheduled to be neutered on July 18.

Tyson is housetrained (with access to a dog door) and minimally destructive inside. He occasionally chews on the leg of a wooden chair or the corner of a crate, but that's about it. I have not done any formal training with Tyson, and have only had him on leash for brief periods. (He was terrified of the leash when I picked him up.) So, Tyson's adopter must be looking forward to training a puppy.
Because of Tyson's strong attachment to me, I am seeking a home for him in which somebody is home most of the time. I would also prefer a home with another dog, or at least one in which Tyson gets to be around other dogs routinely.

GSRSV rescued Tyson and his sister Twinkie (see below) from a property in Rio Linda on 5-31-15 where they were kept as outdoor dogs and had recently got out of the yard. Tyson's adoption fee is $275, which will include a microchip.
