Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Twinkie" is a nearly 7-mos old (born 12-8-14) GSD mix pup who is playful, affectionate, and somewhat timid of people. Twinkie was initially quite scared of me when I rescued her on 5-31-15, but she's come a long way and now will come to me when I call her and loves me to pet her. My hunch is that she was abused by a man, but if that's the case, I don't think it's left a permanent scar on her. Twinkie has always been comfortable with the other dogs here at the GSRSV rescue facility, and likes to play rough. I don't think that she'll be good with cats.
Twinkie weighs about 55 lbs and of course is still growing. Her father is a large, solid black GSD and his mother is reportedly a GSD/Bernese Mtn Dog, though she looks mostly GSD. Twinkie has received both of her distemper/parvo vaccinations as well as her rabies vaccination, so she won't need any further vaccinations until June 2016. She is scheduled to be spayed on July 18.
Twinkie is housetrained (with access to a dog door) and minimally destructive inside, though I do crate her when I'm gone because I've come home to fiberfill wonderland (from pillows), which I believe to be primarily the work of Twinkie. I have not done any formal training with Twinkie, and have only had herm on leash for brief periods. (She was terrified of the leash when I picked him up.) So, Twinkie's adopter must be looking forward to training a puppy. She seems to be quite a good watchdog.
Twinkie is fairly independent, but I do think that she'd do best in a home with another dog that she can play with and burn off some of her puppy energy.
GSRSV rescued Twinkie and her brother Tyson (see above) from a property in Rio Linda on 5-31-15 where they were kept as outdoor dogs and had recently got out of the yard. Twinkie's adoption fee is $275, which will include a microchip.
