My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Brown Sugar. Just last week she was found in our fosterer's backyard starving to death. She has almost no teeth and is front declawed, and her eyes are slightly cloudy from age. We took her to the vet to decide if it would be more humane to put her down or give her a chance at a better life. Our board unanimously voted to give her a chance. She was snap tested for feline aids and leukemia, and her rabies and FVRCP vaccinations were updated. She was tested like they do for pre-operations to make sure her kidneys and liver were okay, which they were. She was giving another test that showed she had a borderline renal problem so she is on special renal health food. She has no litter box problems. Sugar has been eating like a little pig and has filled out and doing so much better in just one week, it's amazing. Yesterday we had her mats on her chest shaved. She is so loving and purrs up a storm especially when you come to see her. She puts up with the kittens walking in her private room with a little hiss, but that is to be expected. Her con is she is a biter, but she has no teeth so it doesn't hurt. So many declawed cats are biters because their defense is taken away, and she is unfortunately one. She will need a new owner who will understand this and forgive her nipping. Sometimes that can be changed by turning away and withholding more attention for a few minutes, but she is old, the vet thought around 11, so she may be set in her ways. We don't know that her previous owner might have had her teeth removed because of the biting. They may have dumped her since we have not found them and she was in such poor condition when found. We currently have over $250 in her but are willing to adopt her to that special person for $50 if they promise to give her a good home for the rest of her life. Please have a heart and take her into yours!
