Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ian the black cat with one dissimilar eye, while he may be special needs, he sure is special. He possesses a lovely, sweet disposition, a good listener who hangs on your every word while letting you stroke his head with tenderness. Our Ian also enjoys kids, other cats, and people who come to visit. He's a docile, authentic kitty who will even let you kiss him if you are so inclined. And don't get him started on belly scratches, he loves those, too. In fact, there is not much, Ian doesn't love so come and meet him and share in the love fest. He's definitely a boost to anyone's sad or bad day. He was born in 2012.
This sweet boy is a special needs kitty: as you can see in his photo, his left eye is a little unusual looking. We took him to a feline ophthalmology specialist who discovered that the brown coloring on his iris is actually a small, slow-growing tumor. The melanoma does not affect his vision, cause him any discomfort, or pose any threat to his health at this time; the only special care needed at this time is for his adopter's vet to monitor the tumor each year at his annual check-up. Someday down the road, his tumor might progress to the point that the vet recommends surgically removing his eye to prevent the tumor spreading, but it's such a slowly growing tumor that it may never require surgery in Ian's lifetime. Don't let his condition scare you away; Ian is a sweet, friendly kitty who is so eager to have a home of his own again!
