My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Burt. I am a 6-year-old neutered male Long Haired Dachshund/Spaniel mix. I weigh about 17 pounds.

If you are looking for the perfect dog, look no further. I am a sweet, loving, gentle guy. I get along well with everybody I meet - people and dogs alike! I've not met a stranger yet.

I am a huge lap-lover. I could curl up in your lap and stay for hours. All the while, offering up the best doggy kisses. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a very affectionate pup!

I should probably talk a little about my past. Me and 7 other dogs were picked up by Animal Control officers due to us being abandoned. We were all held as evidence for about a month at a local high-kill shelter and then put up for adoption. Let me tell you, it was terrible. At least I was housed with one of my old roommates. Having a familiar face around was great, but every once in a while he would turn on me. Maybe it was all the stress that caused him to get a little nasty with me. I'm not sure, but I never reacted. I just took it.

One day, a family came by and saw me in my cage. They decided that I was the one and I left that same day. I thought it was forever, but just a week later my family dumped me back at the shelter. Their reasoning was that I was too old. Not only did they abandon me, they abandoned me with an untreated ear infection!

A few days later one of my human friends contacted CageFree to ask them if they would take me. They welcomed me into their rescue with open arms! I was so relieved. They promised to find me the very best home this time around. I can't tell you how happy I am. I deserve so much more than what I've received in the past. Love me and care for me and I'll be your best friend forever!

Do I sound like a good fit for you? If so, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me.
