My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I was an evidence dog. My partner was killed in the abusive home I once lived in. I was the only survivor. When The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation rescued me I was pregnant and ended up having a litter of five beautiful babies. Some of them have found homes and soon I hope they all do. But I long for a home too!

I have had a very hard life so it is taking me some time to feel safe. I don't like to be pet but I'm sweet and very gentle. I'll pee if someone tries to hold me. I just need some more time. A home environment would make it so much easier for me to understand and believe that my life is different now.

Anyone who has lived through abuse knows that healing takes time. It takes time to regain trust, time to feel secure again. In the last few months that I have been at the Foundation, I have greatly changed and am slowly opening up. Really I am a beautiful dog with a beautiful heart. I know I will make someone really happy.

It will take a special family to understand who I am. Someone who relates to abuse. Someone whom maybe themselves have been beaten. And even though I have suffered through endless nights of terror - I still believe that there is a happy ending for me. A loving home, with loving hands. Come find me mommy - find me...
