Why Choose me?
Update 8/10: Thanks to donations to the Spay/Neuter Fund, Cole has been neutered and is up to date on his vaccinations!
Update 7/27: Unfortunately, Cole tested positive for heartworms :-( While we hope to start his treatment at the shelter, if he is adopted or rescued prior to that happening Athenspets will contribute $150 to the rescue or to a vet of the adopter’s choice towards his treatment.
7/13: Cole had a blast playing in the swimming pool today. He saw a toy that he wanted and gingerly stepped in to get it. He must have decided that the water felt good because when I took the toy and threw it back into the pool, he didn’t hesitate to jump in. We played many more rounds before Cole was ready to relax under the picnic table with his prize. We were both wet but had a great time.
7/2: When I first met Cole, he was shy and not sure about leaving his run. He was uncertain of his new environment and didn’t like the construction noise outside his kennel. Once we rounded the corner away from the noise of a drill, Cole was walking better on a leash and even liked stopping at other dogs’ kennel gates to say hello. In the interaction pen, he had fun playing with Sadie at the fence. Initially, Cole would crouch when I raised my hand to pet him or offer him a treat, but soon he understood that he was safe and enjoyed the pets and treats I gave him. I took Cole out again at the end of the day, and another volunteer joined us giving him attention and bits of a hot dog. He was feeling more at ease. Cole is a sweet, handsome boy. He likes other dogs and wants to be with people—he just needs a little time to trust and feel safe.
