**Chester is currently a resident of Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption.**
Chester is an exceptional fella in so many ways as you’ll soon agree, but we want to give a little description first. He is a Border Collie, with a fabulously healthy, shiny coat. He is estimated to be 1 year old and weighs 45 pounds.
Chester landed at the city shelter in March and it was immediately clear that he was a special dog and so he was enrolled in the Dog Ambassador Program in April. In this fantastic program, he has learned basic commands from the program volunteers and has been working with a certified dog trainer too. He already knows how to sit, down, lay, stay and walk on a leash. We are so proud of his progress and his pure genius!
He is a very lively, young and playful pup, which is common for his breed. He will love spending active days with his new family and then settling in for the evening. He gets along great with kids and other dogs that have a similar energy level, but he can be a bit much for the senior crowd! The Dog Ambassadors take him out to the playground often and he can’t get enough of that. He’s super social and will be the life of the party. He is the perfect dog park candidate.
Chester’s ideal family will make great use of his leash skills and take him on long walks and could even train him to be an excellent running partner. He LOVES his ball and wants to play with it constantly! He’s a complete extrovert and loves life! He’s the type of dog that makes you want to get up in the morning and go…with a smile on your face.
Chester is a strong, healthy boy that will be an active family’s loyal companion for so many years. His friend at the shelter said he is 100% dog, meaning with a little guidance early on from his new family, he will do what you ask of him 100% of the time. Border Collies like to have a job and he is willing to learn. He’s super smart, driven and aims to please his people. Chester is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, fully vaccinated and only missing one thing…his very own family.

He is living in Houston, but would like to make his home is a more active, outdoor friendly location, so he is available for adoption in the Northwest.
