My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Most recent update: July 2015

These two puggles are super sweet, loving & good with everybody – they are fine with other dogs, cats, and have been around children of all ages. They are housetrained and crate-trained (in a crate together) but they don’t even need it because they are fine outside the crate. They have lived with other dogs and are doing so currently in foster.

Layla and Sophie are 5 years old and just as sweet as can be. Their owner was moving and could not take them along. Sophie and Layla are loving, loyal girls. They were surrendered locally and they were both overweight, especially Sophie who was dangerously obese. We had a good medical workup as well as updates on vaccines and dental care. Layla had been dropping weight nicely but Sophie was still losing very slowly. It turns out Sophie’s thyroid was underactive and now with medication she is doing so much better. Both girls are way too motivated by people food so this requires management and they should be kept out of the kitchen area because it’s amazing how even overweight girls can get to the counter or table!

The girls are completely housetrained and don’t need a crate. They walk pretty well on leash and they are getting more used to riding in the car. They will bark to alert you of visitors or if they see a dog on TV, they will also bark at the cats but they do not harm them. However, while they don't bother the cats, Layla will be happy to raid the cat box or the cat food if she has access to it, so those need to be inaccessible.

Sophie and Layla are good natured snuggle buddies, with their humans and with each other. We will only consider a home for them together as they are so bonded and have spent their whole lives together.

To apply to adopt these dogs, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org, or request an application via email, luckypuprescue@yahoo.com.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
