River's Story...
River is a sweet, shy, gentle, sweet boy! He is around 4 months old. He is a shih tzu / chihuahua mix. He is so very lovable. He just wants to be with his person. He does not like to be crated, but does not need to be. He is almost potty trained, and doggy door trained, will use a pee pad and goes all through the night. He does prefer to snuggle with you. He follows you every where. He likes to play with other dogs and would do best with another dog. River does fine with cats if they do not run. He will chase. River is not a chewer. He waits patiently for you to return. He would do best in a home where is is not left for long periods of time. He also needs a fenced yard.
He is neutered and up to date on shots for his age.
River has a $250.00 adoption fee
To adopt me go to www.pureheartsrescue.org and click on applications. Fill out the pre-adoption application and email it back to rescue@pureheartsrescue.org. After approval a visitation is scheduled with the foster for a visitation. If we love each other an adoption contract is filled out.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

River, a Fort Collins Chihuahua/Shih Tzu puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Shih Tzu for sale in Fort Collins, or seeking a Chihuahua/Shih Tzu puppy from a breeder in Fort Collins.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Collins already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Collins breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Chihuahua/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Collins paves the way for another one to be saved.
