My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Intake Date: 4/18/15
Last Update: 6/5/15
Age: Estimated 3 years old
DOB: Unknown
Gender: Male, neutered
Weight: 50 pounds
Energy Level: Medium to high
Color & Markings: Brindle & White
Good with other dogs: He loves playing with the dogs in his foster home but it takes awhile for him to warm up to new dogs
Good with cats: Yes, he mildly chases every once in awhile but never aggressively
Good with kids: He likes kids...likes to hump them. He's a big boy with a good amount of energy and not a lot of manners so older kids would be best.
Object Aggression: He was aggressive with the other dogs over toys and food, but seems to be over that. He will guard his food a bit, so we feed him away from the dog that likes to steal food. He is not food aggressive with people, but we do not feed him by hand as he gets very excited.
Special Needs: Hemivertabrae so mobility and incontinence issues. He moves pretty well and is mostly only incontinent when he's asleep. Chiropractic care has helped with his movement. He runs and plays, can go up and down stairs and can get up on our furniture. He occasionally needs help getting in and out of the car or up onto the couch though
Medications: None
Crate Trained: Yes, but incontinent at night.
House Trained: Pretty much, unless he gets super excited or is sleeping at night. When he naps during the day it isn't a problem. We do make sure he goes to the bathroom outside before we let him in though, he's not the type you can put outside and assume he's done his business.
Physical Fence Required: No, but the more exercise he gets the healthier his spine will be.
Adoption donation: $250

June 5 update: Bam Bam is a wonderful, loving dog. He likes to hang out and be with you wherever you are but is also content with spending time in his kennel. His paw/skin issues are resolving slowly and he seems to be walking much more comfortably. He is great on a leash and loves to go for walks when it's not too hot. With his mobility issues he does get tired quickly so the walks don't need to be very long. He loves playing tug with people or other dogs and going for car rides even if it's just down the street.

April 28 update: Bam Bam is a bundle of love. He doesn't have the best manners yet but he's learning very quickly to wait for attention to come to him rather than jumping all over us. He likes to be right next to you as much as possible and is learning to spend time with our dogs just hanging out. His hemivertabrae doesn't really slow him down, he goes up and down the stairs and runs around the yard a lot. The chiropractic care he will be receiving should make him move even easier and possibly help with his incontinence issues.

Intake info: Please meet Bam Bam! This poor guy was taken to the vet to be euthanized because his owners couldn't handle his allergies. Thankfully, the vet contacted us and we were able to take him in. He is currently in his foster home, and we will post updates as we get to know him better.
