Here's what the humans have to say about me:
TEENA and THEA are cute little tiger girls about two years old. They are probably related, and could be sisters or cousins. They are from a group of cats who were living at a Dumpster near an abandoned building on the wrong side of town. For these former outdoor cats, much of the shelter environment is new to them. However they have made much progress since they arrived.
TEENA is a very pretty tiger/tortie (“torbie”). She is rather shy and preferred to stay in the background while her more outgoing roommate (now adopted) got all the attention. Now it is time for her to shine on her own. She is still not sure if she should trust humans, and prefers to observe rather than join in the fun. She allows a little patting now, but hisses when the allotted time is up. (She is on the left in the first picture.)
THEA is a lovely orange tiger cat with white tux and paws. She can’t quite make up her mind about whether she should trust people. She prefers to stay by herself, often sitting in a cat tree, or peeking out of the crinkly tunnel. Thea hasn’t quite gotten up the courage to interact with humans, but she is really interested in them. However, she even allows a little patting now, sometimes, just a little, which is a big improvement for her. She comes out of her cage (“safe room”) very readily now, to meet the other cats and play with all the toys on the floor. In fact, she usually tries to persuade the shelter volunteers to give her more toys, and it is fun to watch her play. Her favorite toys are the Turbo Scratcher and the crinkly tunnel, and she has figured out how to play with both at once.
Inside these defensive exteriors there are two little kitties who just want some love. They can be adopted separately but they might benefit by being adopted together. They need a quiet adult home with patient people who can complete the socialization process. They need space for themselves and plenty of time to get used to new surroundings. They would probably get along fine with other cats in their new home.
