My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

RANGER - Aussie mix, male, 2 years, 40 lbs. Aussie mix, male, 2 years, 40 lbs. Looking for a partner with excellent leash skills and lots of brains? Ranger may just be the dog for you. He is a great size for just about any home and has good house manners. Ranger is generally a social dog and recently attended a book club where he spent his time going from person to person, soaking up love - but what he wants most is one person to devote himself to. Being a herding dog, the other side to Ranger is that he is a tends to want to run the show. He needs some clear boundaries (no couch privileges, as he can be a bit protective of furniture) but otherwise has very good house manners and is very eager to please. He works very well for treats and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. Loud voices can scare him, but praise and food have him ready to work. Ranger is truly excellent on leash with a natural heel (although he will sometimes dart off to chase chipmunks so be prepared!) and has basic obedience down. Because he can be protective of furniture and a bit jealous of other animals approaching his person, a house with children over 12 and with no other dogs is best. We have not had him with cats but feel based on his behaviors he would likely herd or chase them and would be best without them. And really, Ranger is all you need when it comes to pets, smart, devoted, loving and loyal.

Or visit our site (http://peppertree.org/adoptlist.php) and learn about other Peppertree dogs. *Note: visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
