Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Just look at that face! Opal is a spunky and vibrant 8 month old Pekingese. Opal was rescued from the Midwest from a puppy mill. Opal is a special needs girl. She was born with a deformed front paw. She is technically a tripod, as her paw does not touch the ground. However, she does tend to use it often while walking. It certainly does not slow her down…that’s for sure! This is something that really needs to be considered when considering adopting Opal, as she might require amputation of the limb in the future if it causes problems for her overall health and quality of life. Amputations of limbs are a major surgery option performed by a specialist and require recuperation and rehabilitation. She is a typical puppy in all other ways with endless energy and playful demeanor. Opal has been through puppy class and knows how to sit and stay. She is almost completely house trained. A puppy pad is usually close by in case of an accident and she always makes it on the pad. Opal is super food motivated, which makes training a breeze. She does have a tendency to eat her meals very fast, so she eats with a ‘slow feeder’ in her bowl to help her slow down. Opal does great with dogs, cats, and children of all ages; she does have a little bit of a dominant personality, so she would do best in a home with other confident dogs. Passive, shy, and very submissive dogs might not be the best with her, as she tends to boss them around.
Opal will be a joy to her future owners and will add laughter and love for years to come.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.
