My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey! I'm Deacon. I am a 3-month-old Labrador Retriever/Pointer mix puppy. I weigh approximately 10 pounds right now, but I still have some growing to do. My friends are thinking that I'll be about 30 pounds when full grown. Since they don't have any idea who my parents were, though, it's just an educated guess.

I suppose I should address the elephant in the room. You may have noticed from my photos that I have some scabbing and scars around my muzzle. I had a pretty awful life before coming to CageFree. At one point in time I had a home with a family that I thought cared about me. That was before they used twine to tie my mouth closed and then dumped me off at a vet's office when they realized how damaged I was. Who knows what type of torture I had endured before that fateful day. I'm not sure what I did to deserve such abuse. I'm not a bad dog! Maybe they didn't like me chewing or barking, but that's what dogs do. I'm just a puppy and don't know any better yet. You can't fault me for that, right?

While my wounds have mostly healed, there's a high probability that some of the scarring will remain. My hair may never grow back or it could grow back a different color. It's really hard to say at this point. I hope that doesn't deter you from wanting to adopt me.

Despite my terrible ordeal, I'm still the sweetest, happiest pup around. Surprisingly, I don't hold any ill will towards people! You'd expect a pup like me to be cautious of human attention or flinch when touched, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I love being snuggled by my human companions and it's not uncommon for me to offer up some kisses in return.

First and foremost, I am looking for a family that will treat me with kindness and dignity. I think I deserve it, don't you?

It would be great if my new family were active, too. I'm still a young pup with energy to burn and I would love to play in the backyard or go for a stroll around the neighborhood once I am fully vaccinated. Honestly, I think I'd be up for any type of activity.

If you think I'd make a great addition to your family, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me. My friends are sure that I'm not going to be here long!
