Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ruger is a 4 year old merle male with natural ears and beautiful camo colored eyes. He came to rescue after being left in a shelter. Ruger loves people and is affectionate. He greets everyone with wiggles and rubs his head on you like a cat. When he is happy he spins in crazy circles like a pup. Ruger is very picky about what dogs he likes, it has taken almost three weeks but he is finally getting along with his foster Dane brother and sister and is even learning to play with them now. He would do amazing as an only dog, the perfect fit for someone looking for a best friend. Ruger did well with a cat in the shelter foster home he was in before coming to rescue. He does do well in a family setting. He was a little nervous and jumpy when he first came into our noisy high traffic home, but now its old hat to him he just needed a little reassurance and patience. I would not recommend him go with smaller children. Ruger loves to go for walks and rides, he dances when he sees you get his leash. He is exceptional to handle. He takes a bath, gets his ears cleaned, nails clipped, had blood taken at the vet like a champ! He was like that from the first day he went into his foster home. He does have some anxiety when left alone, and should be crated for his security and comfort. He loves meal time and will again do his dance for that but will sit patiently to be given the command to eat. He knows and follows the command no when you want him to stop doing something and will give you a high five or ten for treats. We haven’t found much that Ruger won’t eat. He gets peanut butter sandwiches everyday along with whatever his sweet head tilt face can sucker anyone out of. Ruger was brought in extremely underweight at 84 pounds but he is now at 108 pounds and climbing. He could probably stand to gain another 10 to 15 pounds. He does not seem to have any stomach problems, he eats well and poops well. He tested positive for Lymes and is currently being treated for it. We are sure that after treatment, weight gain, and a loving family Ruger is going to transform even more into the awesome puppy he was meant to be. Obedience training will be a requirement of Ruger's adoption.
