My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAKE: 9 year old neutered male 72 pounds

Hi there, my name is Jake. At least, that’s what my foster mom tells me it is. I came to lab rescue as a stray from the Merced shelter. I sat and waited for someone to come find me for many weeks and no one came. I watched other pups get adopted and I slowly became more and more sad. That is when lab rescue came and found me. They saw that I was a good boy and knew that they could help make me happy again. Since my jail break, I have been with a foster family and having a wonderful time. It is so nice to have a human to snuggle with again! Let me tell you….I am an excellent snuggler! Whether at your feet or on your lap, I am there to give you love. Foster mom is really impressed by how wonderful I am around horses. They have two large horses and I even get to go inside the arena while foster mom rides. I keep at a safe distance and am very respectful of the pretty horses. I also have a foster dog brother whom I get along well with. There are cats in the house and I just ignore them. When foster mom and dad need to go somewhere, they leave me inside the house and I am a good boy. When they close the door, I let out one “woof” to tell them goodbye and then I wait patiently for them to return. I ride very nicely in the car and am well behaved when left inside the car (only when the temperature outside is cool out!). I am not a piggy lab like some dogs, I eat slowly and like to graze throughout the day. Sometimes foster mom puts some gravy on my kibble to get me to eat (boy, do I have her trained or what?). I am very gentle and would be good with kids of all ages. I have a little arthritis which I take some pain medication for and am sometimes a little hard of hearing. I have an appointment at the vet to have my teeth cleaned soon and to have a skin tag removed. So here is the scoop, if you are looking for a nice mellow boy who just needs a short walk or two a day, then I am your guy!

I am neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped and received all of my shots. Call my rescue rep below and ask about me, Jake! Jake is located in Livermore.

If you are interested in this very sweet well-behaved boy, call Rescue Rep Sandy @ 650-303-2436.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
